NeoGenomics Laboratory

Houston, Texas

PDG Architects designed a 32,380 SF laboratory facility for a premier cancer diagnostics and pharma services company serving oncologists, pathologists, and pharmaceutical companies, with innovative diagnostic, prognostic and predictive testing. The lab facilities are CAP-accredited, CLIA-licensed facilities that include training rooms, conference rooms, and an auditorium to allow live-training for technical programs.

The biological sciences lab facility provides testing areas, different AMP test areas, air locks, storage facilities for chemical and biological waste. The lab facility was built in an existing warehouse facility with 30’ high ceilings. A 4,600 SF mezzanine with two stairs was added along the east side of the build-out to house additional office space and conference rooms.

The different lab functions and groups were laid out as distinct but connected spaces to facilitate visual connection. The centrally located Open Lab can be viewed from the office side, adjacent closed labs and the mezzanine above. The closed labs are a series of labs that have a different air exchange from the rest of the space, requiring its own makeup air unit. The labs were pressurized and equipped with airlocks to ensure air separation.
